Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

Complete the FAFSA

Complete and submit the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA is required to determine eligibility for federal and state student aid.  Be sure to include Emory’s School Code 001564 when completing the FAFSA.

The FAFSA offers you the option to use IRS data retrieval to transfer your (and your parent’s, if applicable) tax return information directly to the FAFSA if your returns have been filed. Families that do not use the IRS Data Retrieval process may be required to submit an IRS tax transcript directly from the IRS to complete the federal verification process.

In order to transfer your data and to electronically sign your FAFSA application, you should register for a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID.  The Department of Education will process your application in three to five days, provided you (and your parents’, if applicable) have provided electronic signatures using your FSA ID.  You will get an email containing a secure link so you can access your Student Aid Report (SAR) online. Review your SAR carefully and make any corrections online.

For more information on completing the FAFSA, please see the Federal Student Aid website.
