Scholarships You Bring

Many agencies, employers, and military and service organizations offer outside scholarship funds to students. If you are offered scholarships from sources other than Emory, you must notify the Office of Financial Aid in writing. The combination of all sources of funding you receive may not exceed your eligibility or the cost to attend Emory for the academic year.

Emory is required to make adjustments for external scholarships and resources if a student’s demonstrated eligibility (or total cost of education) already has been met. To the extent possible, it is our policy to adjust self-help sources of aid before reducing grants. Please email the Office of Financial Aid with any special instructions regarding external scholarships.

Reporting Scholarships You Bring

All checks for these scholarships must be sent to the Office of Financial Aid. External scholarship checks will be posted as payments to the student account. It is Emory’s policy to divide external scholarships equally between the fall and spring semesters unless otherwise specified by the donor.

Scholarships paid directly to the student or payable jointly to the student and Emory University will be applied to the student’s account upon receipt and collection of required endorsement. Checks should be sent to the Office of Financial Aid. Checks made payable to both the university and the student may result in processing delays due to the required collection of the student’s endorsement.

Requests for W-9 or wire information should be sent to: finops@emory.edu
